Denim takes cotton fiber as its raw material, and cellulose constitutes the major component of cotton fiber. Cellulase features substrate specificity. It can targetand degrade cellulose on the surface of denim, strip indigo dyes attached to fiber surfaces and generate natural three-dimensional washed fading effects, making it the key auxiliary agent for denim bio-stone washing processes.
At present, cellulases widely used in denim bio-stone washing processes fall into two categories: acid cellulase and neutral cellulase. There are differences in their application performance. Acid cellulase only functions under acidic conditions. Nevertheless, in denim washing procedures, added chemical auxiliaries and environmental factors lead to drastic pH fluctuations inthe washing liquor, which greatly impairs the catalytic effect of acid cellulase. Acid cellulase has a narrow rangeof applicable temperature and pH values, leading to poor batch-to-batch repeatability of denim finishing results. Moreover, prolonged exposure to acidic conditions will excessively erode cotton fibers and impair the tensile strength of fabrics. In addition, indigo dye carries an egative charge. Under acidic environments, enzyme molecules tend to bind with indigo, causing severe blue backstaining on pockets and linings, which greatly increases the rework rate. In contrast, neutral cellulase works over a wide range of operating conditions. Though its enzyme activity is slightly lower than that of acid cellulase, its reaction is mild and control lable, delivering higher light-dark contrast on finished goods with consistent and stable washing effects across all batches and minimal fabric loss. Enzyme molecules remain uncharged in neutral surroundings and will not adsorb negatively charged indigo dye, fundamentallyeliminating the issue of back staining and achieving superior cleanliness of finished denim products.

Where can we purchase neutral cellulase? BBT can provide you with a stable supply channel. BBT Enzyme NEF® GP3 and NEF® 2200+, manufactured by BaicoBiotech, are highly concentrated granular neutral cellulases formulated for denim stone washing. NEF®2200+ is a granular enzyme featuring good enzyme stability; it can be stored for 2 years at temperatures below 27°C. If you prefer a simpler production process, choose NEF® GP3 produced by Baico Biotech. It replaces pumice stones for pumice-free stone washing under low-temperature conditions, delivering crisp, gray shade tone abrasion on denim and good anti back staining performance. They feature stable performance with complete certificates and compliance documents. We guarantee long-term consistent supply for worry-freebulk procurement.
